John has been brought back to life, not as an angel, but as a helpless mortal. To make matters worse, because of this new mortal state, and the fact that he had been socializing with demons, he now has some demon blood within him, making him a candidate for one of the fabled generals capable of bringing down Heaven itself. Kale Oak had to watch his commander die once, and he has no intention of allowing that to happen again, or to let the demons take him, not after they finally confessed their love to each other. Now John is being stubborn, however, and is pulling away from Kale, ashamed of the things he had been forced to do while he was a demon's servant. Kale is not willing to give up on them, and they must both find a way to bring out John's new holy power before another former angel takes her revenge on them both.
