Some Things I Still Can't Tell You

Description ajoutée par margo4 2021-11-09T19:17:30+01:00

Résumé

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER! From Misha Collins, actor, longtime poet, and activist, whose massive online following calls itself his “Army For Good," comes his debut poetry collection, Some Things I Still Can't Tell You. Trademark wit and subtle vulnerability converge in each poem; this book is both a celebration of and aspiration for a life well lived.

#1 PUBLISHERS WEEKLY BESTSELLER! USA TODAY Bestseller!

This book is a compilation of small observations and musings. It's filled with moments of reflection and a love letter to simple joys: passing a simple blade of grass on the sidewalk, the freedom of peeing outdoors late at night, or the way a hand-built ceramic mug feels when it's full of warm tea on a chilly morning. It's a catalog and a compendium that examines the complicated experience of being all too human and interacting with a complex, confounding, breathtaking world … and a reminder to stop and be awake and alive in yourself.

Or

When I started Mr Collins book, I didn't know what to expect because usually, I don't read poetry but I'm glad I did.

Even if you don't know him, I think that you should get this poetry book. It is simple, it is good. Of course, you might have some poems you don't like but I assure you, it's worth it. Take the book, p4our yourself a hot chocolate and just relax in your couch. You're gonna have a great time just like I had ~

If you want a more detailed review about his book, continue to read ------

Although his book is divided into six sections, I will only adress four of them.

1. Love

This section was really beautiful, especially "Clasped", my favorite poem there.

Although the poems deal with different subjects, they come together on the love Misha has for his wife.

It is intimate, it is true, it is real. We can see through his poems that he writes with his heart, that he wants to share how he feels. I remember telling myself how beautiful it was the way he spoke about his wife. I had a smile on my face, thinking that what was described was true love.

2. Hope, Joy, Running, and other good things.

This section is different from the first one but I had such a great time ! It's clearly my favorite !

I think that what I like most about this book, is its casualness. In my opinion, he has a way with words that makes me smile and turn the pages, again and again.

(P.S : I can't decide if my favorite poem there is 5/7/5 or The Bell Curve).

3. Longing, Sadness, Running and Foreboding.

As you can imagine, this section is darker... It's about loneliness, sadness, being lost.. All those emotions we experience at least once in our lives. To speak the truth, this part took away the smile the orther sections put on my face.

5. The parents.

My favorite poem there is The Driver and Old Bones.

What I really liked about The Driver is the memories Misha is talking about and how he felt safe. I think, most of us, have those kind of memories that brings us joy, calm and safety. By reading that poem, it reminded me of my owns.

However, I was not taken with the other poems of this section.
