The fire. The distant sirens.
Dread constricted around Caleb’s chest. “Wh-what?”
“It’s chaos out there. Yuri is putting NHEs in anyone he passes. There are werewolves running down East Bay Street, for fuck’s sake.” Deacon shook his head. “I didn’t sign up for this.”
The ground beneath their feet vibrated, as though a heavy truck had driven past. The pile of steel rattled, and a chunk of concrete toppled from the heap of a demolished wall and rolled across the ground to fetch up against Caleb’s boot.
Deacon looked around uncertainly. “What was that?”
“A train?” Caleb suggested. But the tracks running to the freight yard were nearby, and he didn’t see anything moving.
No. Not a train. An earthquake.
“Drugoy.”
Oh hell. Drugoy must be glutting himself on the demons Yuri had summoned.
Gray’s worry thrummed beneath Caleb’s, reflecting it back to him. “They spoke of making this city into a paradise for drakul. Drugoy spared us because he believes he can still convince us to join them.”
I know he’s kind of crazy, but he can’t really think we’ll see demons everywhere and the city in ruins, and decide he’s a great guy after all.
“No. I do not believe he would.” Gray paused, ruminating. “Yuri’s cleverness almost worked. If we had returned their affection, we would have left with them last night. If we had not cared about John.”
Shit. You think John’s in trouble?
“Drugoy and Yuri blame him for our decision. They will try to use him against us, one way or another. Perhaps their plan was to seize him, bring him to us here, and threaten him unless we submit.”
It made a horrible sort of sense. And the chaos—the demons—are meant to draw out John. SPECTR will come for Drugoy.
“Yes. And Yuri and Drugoy will enjoy this chaos. They will feed well.”

Waouh quelle fin de série ! Ce livre est haletant et complètement addictif. Impossible pour moi de le lâcher avant de l'avoir terminé !!
J'ai trouvé cette 2ème série au-dessus de la première. Nos héros font face à de nombreux problèmes, autant perso que pro, et à un méchant très intelligent et puissant.
La fin me plaît bien, Spoiler(cliquez pour révéler)Caleb et Gray vont enfin être libérés du poids de SPECTR. Et je suis curieuse de voir dans quelle direction leur nouvelle vie à tout les 3 va les mener.
Je vais attendre que la 3ème série soit terminée avant de m'y attaquer car s'il y a des cliffhanger entre les tomes comme dans cette série et que je ne peux pas lire la suite immédiatement, je ne vais pas m'en remettre xD

Résumé
Charleston is reeling beneath the onslaught of demons unleashed by the vampire spirit Drugoy and his human host Yuri. Alone and drained almost to the point of death, Gray and Caleb must make their way across a city gone mad in hopes of putting an end to Yuri and Dru. But the other drakul isn’t the only enemy they have to worry about.
After the death of a rogue agent at Gray’s teeth, John’s faith in his lovers has been badly shaken. But when SPECTR Chief Barillo orders the vampire destroyed by any means possible, John and his allies find themselves in a race to find Gray and Caleb before their fellow SPECTR agents.
Because their only hope of stopping Yuri and Dru is by working together. And if they fail to unite, the streets of Charleston will run red with blood.
