My chest felt like it was going to fucking explode the longer I stared at her and I was filled with the need to show her every blown up piece so that she knew she had torn me apart. I didn’t even mind the savagery of it. I wanted her to tear me open and if she wanted to devour me whole I would willingly let her. I didn’t know what this feeling was called but it was all consuming.
I was so distracted by the feeling and staring into her stunning eyes that when the door opened, only her head turned to look at our place of arrival. Her worried noise had me following her gaze to a massive guard maybe ten feet away from us, between our place and the room we needed to get into. She placed her hand on my chest and the movement had him acting, grabbing his gun from his belt.
In half a second, I had transformed and was on him, bringing my teeth down on his neck and tearing his throat out in a sharp movement. The taste of his blood exploded on my lips.
Magic eaters were a fairly diverse species. If you could call us that. While our main ability was to suck the magic from those that rightly deserved it, in most cases inducing death because most magical creatures couldn’t live without their magic… we could do other things as well. For one, our teeth became solid fangs in this form if in combat. Hence, the ripped jugular. I shifted back into my human form, finding it far easier each time, as his corpse fell to my feet. I wiped the blood from my chin on my dark sleeve. I hated shirts, very restricting, but in this case useful.

J'ai trouvé difficile de passer outre tous les 'fuck' qu'il peut y avoir dans une seule phrase et qui remplace plusieurs verbes. Très psychologique malgré tout. Les personnages sont très bien développés et il y a des surprises, des trucs qu'on ne voit pas venir, mais pas du tout. C'est surprenant.
il y a de l'érotisme, de la romance malgré l'environnement carcéral.
Le prochain tome risque d'être très différents...

I had a witch to kill and I wasn’t going to be able to put Drake in the ground from here.
