Variant, Tome 3 : Sin

Description ajoutée par 9iana 2021-07-06T12:30:48+02:00

Résumé

Sin is a very misunderstood male — and he couldn’t care less. He lives each day with the guilt of freedom hanging heavily about his shoulders. He’s free, while the males who were held captive with him are not, they’re still missing. The outlet he chooses for his frustration, anger, and guilt, comes naturally to him. Women. Women are his outlet. And his job as security escort for anyone needing to leave Alliance for appointments in the public sector allows him to meet a lot of them. His very appearance, his mannerisms, and even the look in his eyes, coupled with the fact that he makes no secret of not wanting more than a few hours with any female, make him the object of almost every woman’s attention. Every female who sees him, thinks she’ll be the one to change his ways. So he lets them try. He never lies to them, though, or leads them to believe he wants any more than he actually does. Just a few hours, then he’s on to the next conquest, and he makes it perfectly clear from the moment he says hello. It’s not his fault some take it as a challenge.

Celia has no memory of her past. All she knows is the pain and torture of the facility she was held captive in. But now she’s free — more or less. The experimentation she endured has left her weak, and ill. Some days it’s even hard for her to take a deep breath, and she can’t exert herself without paying the consequences. Now her illness has progressed to the point that the doctors in Alliance feel they’ve done all they can, and they want her to see several specialists at a hospital. Celia’s terrified of all things medical. It was a doctor after all, who exposed her to the experiments that have made her sick. Lucky for her the male assigned to escort her to the hospital is one that has a way about him of calming her nerves and helping her through the tests she must endure.

Of all the females he’s ever met, the one that steals Sin’s attention is the one that is not susceptible to his charms. He’s not sure if he’s happy about that, or offended. Celia seems to have the uncanny ability to keep his darkness at bay, simply by being near him. The problem with that? Another male has already set his sights on her, and now that male is telling Sin that she’s dying. Together they devise a plan to save her life, but when all is said and done, will either Sin or Celia be left alive?”

“Celia,” she said. “Could you write Celia?”

Steel looked at her and smiled. He was pleasantly surprised. “Celia?”

“Yes. I think I want to go by Celia. I like it. It feels right,” she said.

“Celia it is. I like it, too. It’s pretty,” Steel said, drawing a line through his name and writing Celia on the sign in sheet.

Celia flashed him a quick smile. Pretty was certainly not what she felt, but she liked the feel of the name on her tongue, and it sounded feminine to her.
