“Dom, I brought the nanny applications for you to look over today.”
“How long has it been since you posted the ad?” Dom vaguely remembered Holly saying something about needing to find a nanny for Emilia but wasn’t sure exactly when she’d decided to move forward.
“I knew you weren’t paying attention! Figures,” she sighed, shaking her head. “You’re helpless without me.”
“Okay, okay.” He figured he needed to say something before she decided he wasn’t listening again.
“Because I’m awesome, I’ve narrowed it down to four people. They’re stopping by for interviews today. You’re welcome.”
“Wait... what? Interviews?” Dom looked up from cleaning Emilia’s face. “I don’t even know what kind of questions I’m supposed to ask. Can’t we do it tomorrow?”
“No. Because I know you’ll keep putting it off until it’s too late. Need I remind you that you’re scheduled to start training for your next fight in less than two weeks?”
Damn it, she was right. Dom’s training schedule was grueling the closer he got to each match. “Okay, okay, but do I have to do it? Can’t you talk to them for me?” he pleaded, trying to sound as pathetic as possible so Holly would take pity on him.
“No, I can’t do it for you. You need to decide who’ll be taking care of Emilia yourself, especially since they’ll be living with you.”
“What the hell do you mean, living with me?”
“Language, Dom,” Holly chastised. “We both know how crazy your schedule gets. You’ll need someone who’s available twenty-four seven.”
“Can’t we hire someone to be on call?” Dom didn’t feel comfortable having someone he didn’t know living in his home. His feelings contradicted leaving the same person to watch Emilia while he was gone, which caused him to cave with Holly’s suggestion of a live in nanny. “Alright, alright. How long do I have until the first person arrives and do you have their resumes or something, so I don’t look like a complete idiot when I answer the door?”
“The first appointment is in thirty minutes. I’ll keep an eye on Emelia while you look these over.”
Dom glared at Holly before taking the resumes and nondisclosure forms she handed him. He knew she left it to the last minute on purpose.
“Don’t look at me like that. Honestly, how you can be a MMA bad boy but are afraid to talk to people is beyond me.”
