Au plus profond de la montagne vit un beau jeune homme, Bau. C'est un fidèle bûcheron qui fait du vin de riz au fond de la forêt. « Dieu de la montagne, j'aimerais avoir un bon compagnon », il a prié et prié. Les seules choses qui lui sont parvenues sont les traces du cerf qui a détruit son précieux champ ! Mais un jour, Bau a trouvé devant lui un homme inconscient et pourtant fascinant, à la peau sombre et ferme, aux muscles énormes et aux défenses proéminentes, ainsi qu'une jarre de vin cassé. C'est à ce moment-là qu'il a compris : « Enfin, le dieu de la montagne m'a donné un bon compagnon ! Rentrons à la maison ! »
