“This is true.” He caught her in a tight hug, his manly body surrounding her small, slim form. “Soon I will have defeated Damien and our lives will be perfect. He is a dangerous, but predictable foe. As the greatest strategist of my people, I will easily out maneuver him and finally carry you off into the sunset.”
“Except, you can’t go into the sunset, dearest.”
“I said moonset.”

Afficher en entier“Something is wrong here.” The Captain Jack wannabe murmured. “Yeah, no kidding.” Kara tucked the book under her arm, again, even as she shrugged off her coat. The heavy fabric fell to the ground and her body temperature dropped about twenty degrees. For once, her conservative business suit felt like a kicky summer dress. She might be stuck in this nightmare, but at least she wasn’t going into heatstroke, now. She slipped off her suit jacket, too, and untucked the pink silk shirt from the waistband of her skirt, fanning it against her midsection. “It’s also really dark, isn’t it?” The stranger cleared his throat, again. “What?” Even in the pitch blackness she could feel the intensity of his eyes on her. Kara arched a brow. Was he checking out her body? Something warm twisted in her stomach at the idea, even though it seemed likely that he was just plotting how to dismember her corpse. She had a lot more Texas Chainsaw Massacre dreams than sex ones. Unfortunately. She glanced away. “I said, it’s really dark, don’t you think?”

You should see how pleased Gem is that she’s part of the publishing world.” Kara squeezed her eyes shut. She loved Gemma. She did. She didn’t resent her step-mother or want to upset her. Kara’s mother had been dead for over a decade and her father needed someone to make him happy. Gemma certainly fit the bill in that respect. The woman was nothing if not… Cheerful.
