Andi was doing just fine on her own. Sure the world had been hit with an outbreak that turned anyone infected into flesh eating zombies. Not to mention that everyone she ever loved was now dead. She was alive though, taking care of herself. She had little desire to indulge in building relationships with anyone. People just couldn't be trusted. Whether they screwed you over intentionally, or just managed to get themselves killed, no one stuck around for very long. She didn't need anyone else either. That was until Will showed up to save her. Will, with his sparkling green eyes, lips you just wanted to taste, and insanely adorable crooked smile, wasn't letting Andi get rid of him so easily. Yet still, Andi did everything she could to push her feelings, and Will, away. The more time they spent together though, the more difficult that became. In a world where another day was not something you could count on, wasting even a single moment, could mean missing out on your only chance for happiness.

Against the odds, Andi is not only surviving in a world where flesh-eating undead hunt the living, but has managed to thrive. When she first went through the gates of the military base with Will, she thought it was their chance for a normal life. Well-- as normal as they could have during a zombie apocalypse. But life on the military base was nothing like she expected. Training takes every ounce of energy she has. With few friends and Will gone more than he's home, she's left to wonder: was staying the right decision? When Will doesn't return from a mission, Andi knows her only choice is to go look for him. Her chances of finding Will with a pulse are slim, but worse, she knows what she'll have to do if she finds him without one. But Andi has to try. She clings to the tiniest shred of hope, even though death and heartache await her on the journey What she finds in the end may destroy her idea of the future and force her to rethink everything...

Nothing comes easy in a post-zombie-apocalyptic world and Andi is used to losing the people she cares about. But when Will gets infected so soon after getting him back, she can't accept the possibility that her life may have to go on without him. She clings to Dan for support through one impossible situation after another, and although there are some bright spots, the darkness just keeps rolling in. When finally things seem to be settling down, and she thinks she might actually have a shot at a normal life, the unthinkable happens. She struggles with knowing nothing will ever be the same again and moving on to honor the memory of the one person she thought would always be there. But that's easier said than done, and Andi finds has to fight harder than ever just to hold on.
