Thirslemarsh est une cozy fantasy qui aborde des thèmes hyper importants liés à la guerre et à ses conséquences. J'ai un faible pour la fantasy historique avec des fées, et Thistlemarsh a comblé toutes mes attentes.
J'ai adoré l'univers créé par l'auteure : un monde ravagé par la Première Guerre mondiale, où Mouse retrouve le chemin de sa maison d'enfance, déterminée à la sauver. Hantée par le passé et par le contraste avec le monde d'aujourd'hui, sa famille a été brisée par la guerre. J'ai adoré Mouse : sa résilience, sa bonté, sa compassion et ses bonnes intentions la rendaient très attachante. J'ai aussi beaucoup aimé la façon dont le contexte historique était utilisé pour illustrer ces changements. Sa tristesse en contemplant sa maison d'enfance, en pensant à tout ce qui a changé et a été détruit, était bouleversante et s'intégrait parfaitement à l'histoire.
J'ai aussi adoré ThornWood : ces fées mystérieuses aux intentions douteuses, mais au grand cœur. J'ai également beaucoup aimé John, Mikelwaithe et M. Hobbs. Le nombre de personnages était assez restreint, mais chacun apportait sa pierre à l'édifice de l'histoire.
J'ai adoré la magie qui se dégageait de ce livre, la façon dont elle était décrite, comment elle servait à faire avancer l'histoire et à aborder les thèmes de la guerre, de l'héritage et de l'amour. J'ai mis un peu de temps à entrer dans l'histoire, mais une fois dedans, impossible de le lâcher. J'ai adoré la description de Thistlemarsh et de sa magie, j'ai adoré les personnages, leurs interactions, et j'ai adoré la romance.
La fin était également réussie et captivante, et j'ai beaucoup aimé le dernier chapitre : il concluait parfaitement l'histoire, et j'étais tout aussi enchantée que ThistleMarsh.
Je le recommande vivement si vous aimez la fantasy cosy, avec un contexte historique et des fées aux intentions mystérieuses. Ce livre a été une véritable révélation pour moi, et j'ai hâte de lire d'autres ouvrages de cet auteur.

In the wake of World War I, the world is a decidedly unmagical place for Mouse Dunne. She once dreamed of becoming a Faerie anthropologist, but with one telegram, her world shattered. At the Battle of the Somme, her cousin’s body disappeared into the mud, and her brother was left with debilitating shell shock. It was time, she knew, to put aside childish dreams.
When Mouse receives news that her uncle has left her the Faerie-blessed Thistlemarsh Hall, a dilapidated manor in the English countryside, she must leave her brother’s side and return to her childhood home to claim her birthright. But there is a catch in her uncle’s If Mouse does not rehabilitate the crumbling house in one month’s time, she will forfeit her inheritance and any hope of caring for her brother.
It quickly becomes clear it’s impossible to repair the manor in the allotted time, until a mysterious Faerie appears with a proposition. He offers to restore Thistlemarsh...for a price. Mouse knows better than to trust a Faerie—especially one so insufferably handsome and arrogant—but she is out of options. There are dark and magical forces at work in the house, and Mouse must confront the ghosts of her past and the secrets of her heart or lose Thistlemarsh, and herself, in the process.
