Patricia is the author of many published traditional and contemporary romances. Her first book, written with a partner, won the Romance Writers of America Golden Heart Award in its category for 1984. She has been a finalist for the RITA Award and has seen some of her books appear on the Waldenbooks bestseller list. Patricia has taught school, worked as a librarian, and as a secretary, and has operated a home for developmentally disabled children. An early and voracious reader, Patricia loved books and storytelling, and was intrigued by the interesting characters that peopled the Arizona mining town where she was born and raised. It was many years before she ever tried to create her first story using some of those characters. After the birth of her fourth child, she decided there had to be more to life than changing diapers and tying shoelaces. She took a writing class in which several people were trying their hand at writing romance novels. Patricia borrowed several, read, and loved them. She began trying to write one, and eventually succeeded with the aid of a writing partner. Since that time, Patricia has written more than 24 books and is planning many more. She says she tries hard to make each book different, to add quirks and characteristics that make her characters sympathetic. As a result, Patricia’s books are known for their warmth, humor, and appealing characters.
