Rowan couldn't bring himself to care about Lorcan and Elide screaming at each other from the other side of the boat. He couldn't bring himself to care about anything. His ears were overwhelmed with a strange ringing sensation.8 months, 8 months they had been travelling. They had nothing. No idea where she was, no idea how Aedion was doing, no idea if she was still alive.....No he couldn't go there. Wouldn't go there. He had to be strong. He had to fight the darkness that threatened to swarm him at every turn. If only for her, he would do it. If only for the chance to see his queen again.

He snapped out of his bottomless haze when he heard a scream. A high note that sliced him like an arrow. He snapped around, panic rising in his immortal chest.Where had it come from?

Elide and Lorcan were oblivious to it. Gavriel was reading. Nobody seemed to notice. His heart raced. It sounded like her, like his queen.

Deciding to try and be rational, Rowan strained his still singing ears towards the horizon.

One second.

Two seconds.

Three seconds.

There it was again, closer this time. It was her. He could feel his heart beating in his chest so fast it was as if it might burst out and run to her.

This time, Gavriel and Lorcan noticed it too. Rowan glanced at them to see them staring right back at him. With a mask of anger on his tired face, he nodded, answering an unasked question. Is it her?Elide glanced over at the three fae warriors to see the strange expressions being passed and immediately got the sense that something was wrong."What is it?" She demanded, whispering because of some strange feeling in her gut.

They all turned to her, trying to conceal the worry and fear written all over them. It didn't work. She asked a bit louder this time"What is it?"

Lorcan stepped forward planning to grab her arm for comfort but she pulled back, suddenly furious."What. Is. Wrong?" She asked trying to keep her tone calm.

Rowan took a step back as if he was trying to stop himself from turning and running right there "Its her, I Can hear her. Screaming. Its Aelin."

Elides heart stopped. Aelin was close. Aelin was in pain. Her queen needed her and she would do everything in her power to find Aelin again and save her from the bitch who had stolen her away
