A Heartless can't fall in love.
Arden Archer is cursed: she can see the Unseelie fae, a gift that sends the women in her family to an early grave. Then a handsome and dark fae prince makes her a tempting promise: if she offers herself as his Tithe, the curse will be lifted and her younger sister will be saved from madness.
But there can be only one Tithe.
Every seven years, the faerie regents pit cursed humans against one another, offering salvation to both the victor and the fae. This year, Arden is one of those human competitors—a Heartless—and with the help of the Midnight Prince, she intends to win.
That is, until a striking blond boy walks into her life, unearthing secrets and planting doubt. Can her dark prince be trusted? Is there more to the Tithe than what he has told her? Has Arden really locked away her heart?
Venture into the darkest part of the forest
where the darkest of the fae await...
their Tithe.

In the aftermath of the Tithe, Arden faces the consequences of events that both she and Mavek set in motion. Can she prevent the unthinkable? Or is she doomed to a lifetime of grief, pain, and retribution?
And what of Eskel and her undeniable feelings for him?
Can Arden, Mavek, and Eskel set their differences aside and work together in order to stop the wicked fae prince out to get them?
Arden Archer is an Unseelie. After struggling against the turn for months, Arden has finally accepted what she's become, and what it means for her future, and the future of those she cares about. Even though she's more powerful than a human, she's still no match for Finch, the Unseelie Underground prince out for revenge against her and Mavek for what took place at the Tithe. Finch is willing to do anything to reclaim the throne that was stolen from him that night, even offering a truce if either Arden or Mavek will swear their courts allegiance to him.
But Arden knows better. Experience has taught her no good can come from a deal made with the fae, and she's unwilling to risk putting Eskel or her sister in any more danger. With no other choice, she turns to the one person she knows for a fact can help her. It quickly becomes apparent that Finch isn't the only thing she needs to worry about though. There are also lingering feelings that need dealt with. Feelings towards both her boyfriend, and the Midnight King.
Mavek Midnight went through a lot in order to keep Arden by his side. Now that it's been done, however, he's realizing keeping ones heart is a lot more complicated than he'd ever imagined. As he struggles to make amends for his mistakes, Mavek is also forced to ask himself how much he's willing to sacrifice in the name of love. Can he accept Eskel Montgomery for the sake of his queen?
And, more importantly, can he convince Eskel to accept him?
