“You do realize I now need to tear my guards’ eyes out?”
“Why?”
“Because they too have glimpsed your unmentionables.”
“Worth it,” someone called out.
Afficher en entier“You threatened to make him eat his eyes.”
“Exactly. If that gained his interest, it would be a little bizarre.”
“You stabbed me in the chest.” Nyktos inclined his head. “And threatened to claw out my eyes. That didn’t deter my interest at the time. What does that say about me?”
“Good question,” I muttered.
Afficher en entier“What does that mean?” I asked, my mouth dry.
Attes inclined his chin. “It means that Nyktos must gain Kolis’s permission to crown a Consort.” His gaze flicked to Nyktos.
My lips parted. “Son of a bitch.”
The wisps of eather swirled in Attes’s eyes as his grin returned. He dipped his head, dropping his voice. “Did you just call the King of Gods a son of a bitch?”
“Uh…”
Afficher en entier“I can take care of my desires, but that only goes so far.”
“You’d better make it stretch as far as it can go,” he ordered softly.
“And if I don’t?”
“What I did to those gods in the throne room will pale in comparison to what I do to whoever satisfies your needs.”
Afficher en entier“Perhaps I should’ve left with Nektas. I wonder if he would’ve…enjoyed putting me down for a nap. He did seem to like my gown.”
That got his attention.
Afficher en entier“I don’t think that’s true.”
“Why?”
“Because you just projected…sadness.”
I stiffened. “I did not.”
“Tell me something, Sera?” His head tilted. “When is it that you speak the truth?”
“When I’m comfortable doing so,” I retorted.
An eyebrow rose. “I think that was actually the truth.”
Afficher en entierMy chest squeezed. “My…my sister? Ezra? She believes you can’t hate someone you’ve never met. She’s wrong. I’ve never met Kolis, and I hate him.”
Nyktos was quiet for a moment. “I don’t think you have to know someone to feel a certain way toward them. I don’t even think you have to truly know someone to miss them.”
Afficher en entier“If I’d known you were going to insult the gown that doesn’t even belong to me, I would’ve chosen to visit what’s left of the entombed gods instead.”
Nyktos’s eyes flashed to me, narrowing.
“I believe she’s saying she’d prefer their company over yours,” Nektas added helpfully.
“Thank you for the unnecessary explanation,” Nyktos drawled.
Afficher en entier“Just because I’m a Primal doesn’t mean my body responds differently.”
“I didn’t realize that Primals—or men in general—had such little control over their cocks,” I snapped.
Afficher en entier“Are you done fighting me?”
“For now.”
The curl of his lips returned as he lifted his gaze to mine. “And yet it feels as if we’re still locked in battle.”
