Résumé

Fans who love the Romance of Twilight, The Action of the Mortal Instruments and the Mystical Magic of The Shanara Chronicles will love the Ancient Magic Series—

An Immortal Warrior. A Startling Prophecy. An Ancient Curse.

Eisha Cinnia's life has been marked by a curse. After the death of the man she loved, and the near extinction of her race, The Druids, she has spent the last two thousand years hiding… in more ways than one.

Yet, the one thing she fears the most, resides inside her.

Eisha is an Ovate, like her mother Venetia. A Seer of Prophecies. An ability that turned into a curse the day it killed her mother. And now it has come for her.

Unable to control its power, Eisha has renounced her destiny. But when the visions show her a shocking truth, she will seek comfort in the arms of her best friend. The man who secretly loves her, although she's unsure she can give him the one thing he wants. Her heart.

Eisha must realize her fate has been foretold, and that true love is the only force that can save her.

Prologue. The Vison

Eisha t was through a vision that I realized my heart would be his…

It was but a glimpse of the future, his future, yet the emotions rushed through me implacable and unstoppable after a single touch. For a mere moment I believed it to be nothing but a dream, then he took my hand in his and my whole body awoke for him… because of him. The warmth of his skin replaced the coolness that took hold of me during a trance. His laugh reached the deepest recesses of my soul and in that instant I was certain.

I loved him.

The haze disappeared and my eyes slowly opened. My gaze settled on the hay roof and I took a deep breath fighting the desolation that normally enveloped me after one of these visions. The ones that caused my heart to soar with the force of the love I felt for him… from him, but also tore a piece of it once they were over.

They had begun when I awoke following the battle at the lake. Only a few days had passed, and I had scarcely finished healing. I was alone when it first occurred, and as usual the trance took possession of me, unexpectedly. Suddenly I was in his arms, experiencing a love that could not exist, a love a million times stronger than what I ever felt for Gildas. How could that be?

These visions were odd, however. They were not clear, loud and compelling as it was the custom. They were hazy and soft like a caress. Whispers and flashes of a future I desperately needed, but I did not want. I never knew where I was, I could not see the planes of his face or hear the full vibrato of his voice. Nevertheless, I knew who it was. I could feel him. Every sense in me perceived his strength, his confidence and the virility that overpowered a room whenever he entered. The sensations, emotions and love that poured into me with each word, each touch, with his mere presence robbed me of breath. I had already been his in my visions, given everything to him and for the first time in this tormented life, I was terrified of much more than this curse I carried within me. A curse, that others regarded as a gift. This frightened me in a manner I could not overcome, because the curse could kill me yet the love I gave to Gildas would always remain. My promise to forever be his, would endure. Yet if I allowed myself to be with Art, to love him and receive his love the way my curse foretold, it would be worse than my death. Welcoming Art’s love would mean forever losing Gildas.

And I could not allow that, even if meant living an eternity alone.
