A sapphic retelling of arthurian legends with Vivian as the main character ? I was immediately in.
The author knows her subject, that's for sure, and that is what charmed me the most about this book. Each story element that is either accurate to any old telling, or completely different, is about choices. And those were well done. The balance between a young story for today's generations and the anciet sacred texts, as I like to call them, was fair.
I grew fond of Vivian and Morgan really quickly. The latest, who was deeply inspired from BBC Merlin, which made me only happier.
Their love story is what I expected to read, I was pleased. Spoiler(cliquez pour révéler)I did hope for more angst (I know, there was already a lot and it was perfect). I felt a friends to lovers to enemies to lovers again arc at some point and I would have loved it so bad. But that's just my taste.
I got really transported by the story, althought the ryhtme breaks a little sometimes. A little feeling of walking from key point to key point.
I was a little disapointed by the writing of Arthur. This is not his story, I know. But I feel like he still has some scenes and some characterisation that matters a lot, and a lot of unresolved points. So I only hoped he had little more development. But that is only my point of view and wish on things.
Spoiler(cliquez pour révéler)The epilogue had me laughing out loud though, not that I did not enjoy it but is an epilogue for scissoring necessary ?
Overall I did appreciate this reading. And the author's note at the end was EVERYTHING.

Résumé
