“Two girls trapped inside!” someone shouts, their words falling like background mist, congealing with the thickening plumes of black smoke billowing under the doorway.

“Please, don't let it be her,” I silently pray, my hands trembling as I clench my fists.

Surrounded by panicked bystanders and sirens, I recall the look of love in Jasmine’s eyes this morning and the chaos falls silent.

“This world is nothing without you,” my breaking heart whispers to the memory of her flawless, radiant smile. “I’ll keep you safe or I’ll die trying.”

And then, armed only with the feeling of her feminine fingers caressing my skin…

I break every rule in the book and storm inside the burning bar…

In the five months that have dragged on since Gemma’s wedding I hadn’t seen or heard anything from Dillon Moore....

Until he walked into Bar Neo thirty-six hours ago.

After he left early to start his shift this morning, I wake in his comfortable bed and I’ve just had the most beautiful, life-changing vision.

I can see our children laughing, wrestling and playing with their father… and it feels as real as the late morning sunlight that bleeds in through his window.

“What have you done to me?” I sigh out loud to my future husband, the crystal clear vision of our ideal family fading as my favourite ringtone fills the room.

It’s my work colleague calling me. She needs me to cover the new girl’s shift in Bar Neo…
